Multiple Sclerosis Blog

For Patient Health Education (HSC6235), I was required to create a blog on an assigned health topic. In a series of five blog posts, I discussed health issues relevant to individuals with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), as well as their friends and family. The information presented is useful for anyone who is looking for information about this disease. The information was written to be easily navigable and beneficial to patients. The blog begins with an introduction of MS, discussing what the disease is, it's symptoms, the types of MS, trends regarding who is affected by the disease, and other helpful websites for further research. The second post discussed the diagnosis of MS including pre-diagnosis, in which symptoms are beginning to be experienced and the diagnosis process. The next post discussed treatment and reviewed medications and rehabilitation options. The fourth post was intended to be helpful for those who have MS as well as their family. Specifically, information was shared regarding how family members can be supportive to their loved one with MS.  The last post within the blog covered a healthy lifestyle of those diagnosed with MS. The information shared emphasized the need to follow treatment recommendations, the importance of taking care of oneself, strategies for improving mental health, etc.  Each post included credible references.

Previously, I knew little about MS. This project has proven useful to me. In the second week of my internship, I tabled at the Living Well with MS event and I was grateful to have knowledge of this disease.
